Achievement while in School

Bro. Pettis received my higher education at the University of Florida achieving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982 and Juris Doctorate Degree in 1985. During my undergraduate studies, he was elected Student Body Treasurer, President of Black Student Union, Chairman of University of Florida Accent Speaker's Bureau, and served in many different capacities in both Student Government and the University Administration. He was tapped into Florida Blue Key, a leadership honorary society, in 1980 and inducted into the University of Florida's Hall of Fame the following year.

Achievements as Alumni

Bro. Pettis has remained active within the University community since graduating from law School. Over the past 6 years, he has served on the University of Florida Foundation's Board of Directors. He currently serves on the Foundation's Board Development Committee as well as on the Regional Council for Broward County. During the last capital campaign, Bro. Pettis and his wife, Sheila made a bequest to the University of Florida with a current value of $250,000.00 with expected growth to $1,000,000.00 at their death.

Achievements Professionally

Upon graduation from law school, Bro. Pettis started my practice at Conrad, Scherer &James, focusing on civil litigation in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice and wrongful death litigation. He holds Martindale-Hubbell's highest A.V. rating. In 1992, he formed a new firm, Cooney, Haliczer, et. al. Their practice evolved into my current firm of Haliczer, Pettis & Schwamm.

Most recently in 2005, he was elected to the Florida Bar Board of Governors representing the 17 Judicial Circuit. Over the past year, he has served as the Chairman of the Judicial Independence Committee. Over his 21 years of practice, he has received numerous professional honors. Most recently, he was recognized by the Miami Herald as one of Florida's top lawyers in 2006.

Achievements in the Community

In 1991 the late Governor, Lawton Chiles, appointed Bro. Pettis as the first African-American and the youngest member ever to the South Florida Water Management District's Governing Board. He served on the board for 8 years including serving as Vice-Chairman. He has also been an active member of the Broward Community College Foundation, serving as the Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Directors from 2004 to 2006. He still serves on the Foundation's Executive Committee of the Board. He and his wife, Sheila, have also donated $50,000.00 to Broward Community College in the Pettis Family Scholarship Fund.

Achievements while in School

Brother Moore was one of 20 exchange students who attended the UF from FAMU. Upon returning to FAMU, he became the only non-Alpha Xi initiated Brother to serve as Polemarch of the Alpha Xi Chapter. He is a member of Alpha Xi's Hall of Fame, served as a Dean of Pledges, and at the 1974 Conclave had the honor of meeting two living Founders, Dr. Byron K. Armstrong and Edward G. Irvin. Bro. Moore was honored with the Neophyte of the Year Award and the Polemarch's Outstanding Service Award.

At FAMU, Bro. Moore was Vice President of the NPHC, Student Government Parliamentarian for the Student Senate, Student Judiciary Court Prosecutor, Chaired the Student Union Board Student Activities Committee, served as an SG officer as Secretary of Legislative Affairs, the FAMU Student Lobbyist. Bro. Moore also spearheaded a campus voter registration campaign.

Achievements as Alumni

As an Alumnus, Bro. Moore has been the Polemarch of the Tallahassee Alumni Chapter. Since 1976, Bro. Moore has been appointed to serve under Grand Polemarch Bacon, Grand Polemarch McBryant, Grand Polemarch Young, Grand Polemarch Tutman and Grand Polemarch Hamilton as a member or chair of various national initiatives of the Fraternity. Bro. Moore is currently a National Chaplain Committee Member and the Southern Province Chaplain. Additionally Bro. Moore served as the Alpha Xi Chapter Advisor from 1977 through 1998, and was appointed as that Chapter's Advisor a year of completed his undergraduate studies.

Achievements in the Community

He has served as the State Chairman for the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity from 1978 through 1982. Bro. Moore was the first African American to hold this position in the state of Florida. He also was the Alpha Phi Omega advisor at FAMU for 11 years, and won awards at the Chapter, Sectional and Regional Levels.

Bro. Moore is an NAACP Life Member, an active member of the Urban League, and the Highest Ranking Mason in the State of Florida. Bro. Moore has served on several committees appointed by the Mayor of Tallahassee, Past President of the Toastmasters International in Tallahassee, President of the Goodwill Industries of the Big Bend, and is a Pastor at Powerhouse Church of God in Christ.

Clarence is a member of Hell in High Water 23 Deep. Clarence completed Florida in three years and was accepted into Howard University School of Medicine. Clarence has practiced medicine in Philadelphia for 30 years. He is the physician for all the major politicians, business and athletes in the city.

Bro. Christie was Keeper of Records and Polemarch. At the time, he was the youngest to ever serve as the Chapter Polemarch. Rick also served on the regional level as Junior Vice Polemarch of the Southern Province. Rick was named Executive V.P. of the IFC (first African American),Who's Who UF Hall of Fame, UF Man of the Year (runner up) Florida Blue Key and Savant UF.

Since graduating from UF with B.S. in Journalism in 1982, Rick remains active in the fraternity as a member of the West Palm Beach Alumni Chapter, where he serves as Keeper of Records. He is also a Life Member of the fraternity.

Professionally, Rick is the assistant managing editor at The Palm Beach Post. Rick has worked for numerous highly acclaimed news agencies including, but not limited to, Cox Newspapers Washington Bureau where he was one of only three blacks running the foreign operation of a major media company. Rick also worked at The Wall Street Journal, Miami Herald and The Ledger.

Rick is the founding member of Palm Beach Association of Black Journalists. He is a Life member of the National Association of Black Journalists, a member of the Society of American Business Writers and Editors and a member of The Palm Beach Post Speakers Bureau. Achievements while in School

Anthony continued to exhibit a learning agility and excellence in all facets of the fraternity. He served as Dean of Pledges and Strategus of the chapter. Was named fraternity's intramural MVP several times, and while serving as the intramural chairman saw the fraternity win its first, and only, Presidents Cup in the history of Zeta Phi. The University of Florida National Alumni Association recognized him as the Outstanding Intramural Participant. His proficiency in stepping played an integral part in brothers' success during the annual Greek Extravaganza, the Florida Invitational Step Show, parades, and many other venues. Brother Henderson was recognized as the Outstanding Fraternity Leader by the Black Greek Council, and the chapter acknowledged him as the Most Outstanding Senior and a Legacy Award recipient. Anthony graduated from the College of Health and Human Performance with a BS in Exercise and Sports Science/Wellness, while serving as the Vice President of the College Council.

Achievements as Alumni

Membership Intake Chairman, Vice Polemarch and Polemarch of the West Palm Beach Alumni Chapter. While serving in those respective positions, Anthony got the Kappa League program started in the chapter. He doubled the chapter's size and the exchequer during his terms, while helping to start the Silhouette program in the chapter. His last hoorah before he stepped down as Polemarch of the chapter was being deemed the host chapter for the 54th Southern Province Meeting. He received an Active Founders Recognition award from the living charter members of the West Palm Beach Alumni Chapter for "Sterling Leadership & Brotherly Outreach." He is currently a financial member of the Ft. Lauderdale Alumni Chapter as well as a Life Member of the fraternity; member # 0414123. Brother Henderson keeps that Zeta "Phire" going by continuously playing an integral role in the Zeta Phi Alumni Anniversary Committee.

Achievements Professionally & In Community

As an inspirational speaker he speaks the TRUTH on a variety of topics to various audiences. He ranked second, nationwide, as a Regional Director with a previous company. The Henderson State Farm Insurance Agency has been listed in the top 100 new agencies in the country since it's inception in April of 2006; # 43 has been the highest so far. Anthony also serves on the board of directors for the FCASV (Florida Council Against Sexual Violence); he is the first black male to be nominated and serve on this board.

Achievements while in School:

Bro. Cedric Washington was initiated into the bond in March of 1983. He was a two time Polemarch for Zeta Phi serving from 1985 - 1987. During his tenure he led the chapter to a number of significant accomplishments including; University of Florida, IFC fraternity of the year in 1986 and 1987. Zeta Phi was also selected as Southern Province chapter of the year in the 1986. Another accomplishment during his tenure was the 1st ever Zeta Phi Parents Weekend. This weekend saw over 50 parents and relatives of brothers and sweethearts come to UF to fellowship with the chapter, culminating in an awards banquet. He also served as Keeper of Records and Kappa Week Chairman.

Bro. Washington made his mark while at the University of Florida not only in the fraternity but in the university community as well. He received virtually every award from the fraternity including; Zeta Phi Brother of Year, Neophyte of the Year, Senior of the Year and Southern Province Brother of Year. Within the University community he was selected to the University of Florida Hall of Fame and served on a number of university committees. He was also tapped into a several leadership honoraries which included Florida Blue Key (New Member Chairman), Order of Savant (New Member Chairman) and Order of Omega. He was also an active and vocal member of the Black Student Union and NAACP. He received a BS in Marketing from the university in 1987.

While in Graduate School at Clark Atlanta University he was elected Polemarch of the Kappa Zeta Intermediate chapter. He was also elected CAU's Student Government Vice President. He received a Master's Degree in Business in 1992.

Achievements Professionally:

Bro. Washington was a marketing executive for Sara Lee Food and Beverage in Chicago, IL. He managed a $230 million dollar business in sales. He was responsible for all marketing activities including Advertising, Promotions and New Product introductions. He was also a marketing executive for the Pillsbury Company as well as The Thompson Minwax Company. He is member of the National Black MBA Association. He has been part of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization.

Achievements in the Community:

Brother Washington has served on the alumni committee responsible for the Zeta Phi Anniversaries for the last 15 years. He served as chair for the 25th, 30th and 35th Anniversaries which have raised over $50,000 to date.

Pastor Barr received a B.A. Degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Upon graduation he was recognized as the Most Outstanding Graduate in Leadership. He was elected as Vice President of Florida Blue Key, and served as Polemarch of Zeta Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. He then matriculated at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where he received a Master of Divinity degree in 1983. While a student at Duke, he served as president of the Black Seminarians Association. He has studied at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he completed a course of study of Community and Economic Development in 1998. He has done further postgraduate study at the University of Florida College of Architecture, Babcock School of Management of Wake Forest University, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Boston University School of Theology, and the Beeson Institute of Advanced Church Leadership.

Achievements Professionally

Jason A. Barr, Jr. is currently the senior pastor of Macedonia Church in Pittsburgh, PA where he has served since 1988. Since 1988 Macedonia has experienced a fivefold increase in membership, worship attendance, and budget. Additionally the church and its offspring corporations employ more than thirty five individuals and have an aggregate budget in excess of three million dollars. Pastor Barr inspired the founding of Macedonia Family and Community Enrichment Center (Macedonia FACE), a non profit social service organization. His vision also led to the development of the Macedonia Development Corporation, a corporation devoted to the economic empowerment of the community primarily through the development of housing and job training. The church actively supports the education of children in South Africa and hosts students from South Africa each summer.

In addition to his pastoral duties Pastor Barr is an adjunct professor at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and Geneva College in Beaver Falls Pennsylvania. He has also taught at the University of Florida, the University of Pittsburgh and Isothermal Community College in Spindale, North Carolina.

Recently Dr. Barr was selected as one of the 50 Most Influential Men in Pittsburgh by the Pittsburgh Courier. He has also been honored with over one hundred awards since he arrived in Pittsburgh.

He is co-author of two books: The Gospel Remix and From Proclamation to Practice, both published by Judson Press. He has also published many articles and academic papers.

Terry is a currently a member of the San Francisco Forty-Niners National Football League player with history of success both on and off the playing field. Tireless community servant who uses his work as a professional athlete to help motivate, train and care for others. Terry started CC Jack Investments LLC which has partnered with successful business leaders in the community.

Brother Oce began his leadership role in the fraternity as "Head Knocker" of his pledge class. He then selflessly served as the Polemarch and Keeper of Exchequer of the chapter. Reginal's contributions to the chapter garnered him the Bernard Cohen Award, Senior of the Year, Brother of the Year, as well as Neophyte of the Year awards. His campus involvement afforded him the University of Florida Student Leadership Award. After graduating from U of F with a BS/BA in Management, Reginal attended Clark Atlanta University Graduate School of Business Administration and received a MBA with High Honors in Finance. During his tenure at Clark, he served as the Vice Polemarch of the Zeta Kappa Alumni Chapter as well as President of the University Finance Club. Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society along with the National Black MBA Association are just two affiliations that propelled him to be named Outstanding Student Leader while at Clark Atlanta University.
